HANOVER, N.H. — The men's tennis won all three singles matches that went to three sets Sunday, surging past Dartmouth for a 5-2 victory at Boss Tennis Center which marked its first in Ivy League play this season.
Cornell (9-7, 1-2 Ivy League) started the day by securing the doubles point, then Dartmouth (9-10, 0-2) rallied with victories at the top two singles positions. Sophomore
Chris Vrabel tied the match at 2 with his singles victory at the No. 4 position, closed it out in a tiebreaker.
In the remaining three singles matches, Dartmouth won the first set only to have Cornell win the second set. Senior
Alex Sidney closed out his No. 6 match emphatically with a 6-0 triumph in the third set. Junior
Stefan Vinti won 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3, and sophomore
Colin Sinclair capped the impressive comeback at No. 5, winning 2-6, 6-1, 7-6.
Cornell returns home for its first Ivy League matches at Reis Tennis Center this season. The Big Red hosts Brown at 1 p.m. Saturday, then Yale at 1 p.m. Sunday.
