THE MATCHUP: Coming off a 3-2 win in its non-conference finale against Binghamton, the Big Red will head to Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend to take on the Big Green on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., and the Crimson on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. Cornell enters the weekend with a record of 7-8 overall (1-4 Ivy). Dartmouth has lost eight consecutive outings to slip to 6-9 overall and 0-5 in the Ivy League, while Harvard enters the weekend with a record of 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference. THE SERIES VS. DARTMOUTH: Cornell's series with Dartmouth began in 1981 and the Big Red has dominated from the beginning, winning the first 13 meetings before falling to the Big Green for the first time on Oct. 12, 1996. Cornell owns a 40-16 record in the all-time series, winning 21 of the last 31 outings.

LAST TIME VS. THE BIG GREEN: The Big Red volleyball team fell to Dartmouth, 3-0, this evening in Leede Arena. The Big Green won in straight sets, 25-10, 25-18, 27-25. Cornell struggled offensively, hitting just .027 as a team.
Kit McCarty had a team-high .333 hitting percentage (6-1-15) and
Carla Sganderlla posted a team-high nine kills. Setters
Alyssa Phelps and
Lauren Donnelly and 10 and nine assists, respectively, while
Chelsea Sincox finished with a match-high 16 digs. Dartmouth had three players register double-digit kills – Emily Astarita (14), Kaira Lujan (12) and Sierra Lyle (10) – with the trio accounting for 36-of-44 Big Green kills on the evening. Setter Kayden Cook posted 39 assists, while Astarita finished with a double-double with a team-high 11 digs.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH: The Big Green have lost eight consecutive outings to slip to 6-9 overall and 0-5 in the Ivy League. As a team, Dartmouth has struggled offensively, ranking seventh in the Ivy League in kills (10.31) and eighth in hitting percentage (.161), but the defense has kept the team in most games, limiting opponents to just .182 hitting percentage, good for second in the Ancient Eight, while ranking third overall in team blocks (2.02 per set). The Big Green is led by Emily Astarita's 2.85 kills per set and .285 hitting percentage. Kaira Lujan is the team's big blocker, ranking second in the league with 1.06 blocks per set, while libero Julia Lau is 10th in the conference with 3.00 digs per set.

THE SERIES VS. HARVARD: Cornell and Harvard first met in 1977, a 2-0 Big Red victory. Cornell went on to win the next 10 contests before the Crimson earned its first win in the series during the 1988 campaign. The Big Red had won nine straight meetings, dating back to Oct. 9, 2004, before Harvard earned a series sweep in both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Cornell returned to its winning ways with a sweep of the Crimson in 2011, however, Harvard has gotten its revenge by winning the last eight outings. Still, the Big Red holds the 36-26 lead in the all-time series.

LAST TIME VS. THE CRIMSON: The Big Red was blanked by Ivy League leader Harvard on Nov. 6, 2015 in the Malkin Athletic Center, falling 25-16, 25-9, 26-24. Cornell was led by
Macey Wilson with a match-high eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage (8-2-18). She also registered four block assists. Three other Big Red –
Emily Wemhoff,
Kara Rogers, and
Carla Sganderlla – all chipped in five kills apiece but off the three, only Wemhoff finished with a positive hitting percentage at .364 (5-1-11). Setters

Chelsea Sincox finished with 11 digs. Harvard took firm control of the top spot in the conference standings, now sitting two games ahead of Princeton, Yale, and Dartmouth in the win column. The Crimson relied heavily on its defense, posting 17 team blocks, led by Caroline Holte with two solo blocks and eight block assists, while Sindhu Vegesena (13) and Corinne Bain (10) posted double-digit digs behind Harvard's big blockers. Christina Cornelius, Kathleen Wallace, and Bain all finished with seven kills apiece, with Cornelius finishing with a .778 hitting percentage (7-0-9). Bain also handed out 18 assists to fall just three kills shy of a triple-double.

SCOUTING HARVARD: The Crimson enter the weekend with a record of 4-10 overall and 2-3 in Ivy League play. The team is led by Grace Roberts Burkank's 2.82 kills per set, while Maclaine Fields has a team-best .353 hitting percentage. Setter Connie Bain ranks sixth in the Ivy League with 7.53 assists per set and is fourth overall with 0.37 service aces per set. Freshman libero Isabelle Tashima ranks fifth in the conference with 3.40 digs per set.

THE HEAD COACH:Â
Trudy Vande Berg is in her second season as The Wendy Schaenen '79 Head Coach Of Volleyball at Cornell (13-26, .333) ... Vande Berg became the 11th head coach in Cornell volleyball history in March 2015 after spending three seasons as the Big Red's top assistant coach ... Prior to her time at Cornell, Vande Berg spent time as an assistant coach at North Florida, Duke, and Iowa State and as a volunteer assistant at Wisconsin. She also served as head coach of the Team Iowa Ice professional club in the Premier Volleyball League, where she guided the team to the championship in her second year at the helm.

NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS: With its 3-2 win over Binghamton, Cornell wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 6-4 record, amassing the most non-conference wins in a season since 2006 (7) ... It also gave the Big Red its first winning record out of conference since the 2005 squad went 7-4 in non-league play.

Macey Wilson ranks 15th in Cornell history for career solo blocks (44), needing just three more to move past Traci Mizoguchi '96 in 14th place. She is also fourth in block assists (275) and seventh in total blocks (319), needing 18 and 12, respectively, to move up a notch.

Jada Stackhouse – to the roster for the 2016 season. The six student-athletes hail from six different states and the group consists of two middle blockers, two outside hitters, one setter, and one defensive specialist.
