ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team swept a doubleheader Saturday at Reis Tennis Center, recording 7-0 victories over visiting Stony Brook and Niagara.
Against Stony Brook (4-4), Cornell won the first two of the day's three doubles matches to take the opening point. Five of six singles matches were then won in straight sets, and sophomore
Priyanka Shah rallied to win her No. 5 singles match in a super tiebreaker.
The Big Red was even more dominant against Niagara (4-7). Sophomore
Allegra Hanlon made her dual season debut at the No. 5 position and won love-love, as did freshman
Michelle Wang at No. 6. Cornell dropped two or fewer games in each of the doubles matches and now owns a four-match winning streak.
Cornell (9-5) wraps up an 11-match home stand next weekend with its final tuneups before the commencement of Ivy League play. The Big Red hosts Marist at 10 a.m. Saturday, then takes on Binghamton at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20.
