No. 11 Harvard Blanks Field Hockey

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The highest-scoring field hockey team in the Ivy League had its offensive ability on full display today when No. 11 Harvard defeated the Big Red, 8-0, at Berylson Field in Cambridge, Mass.

Maddie Henry was brilliant and finished with nine saves and allowed five goals in 49:01 of play before giving way to Laura Kubit, who stopped two and allowed three goals in 20:59. The Big Red also got a defensive save from Kirsten Piernaar, her third of the season and fifth of her career.

Henry made seven saves in the first 25 minutes of the contest, but her seventh save deflected to Tessel Huibregtsen, who scored the first of her two goals on the day. Maddie Earle registered a hat-trick for the home team, with her final goal accounting for the eighth Crimson tally, scored with less than three minutes remaining in the contest.

Harvard (12-1, 4-0) dominated in shots (27-0), shots on goal (20-0) and penalty corners (7-0).

Cornell will wrap up its three-game road trip next weekend when it travels to Brown for a noon contest on Saturday, Oct. 20.
