ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's soccer team fell to Yale, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Berman Field. The loss put the Big Red at 1-10-1 on the season and 0-4 in Ivy League play, while the Bulldogs advanced to 6-5-1 and 1-3 in conference play.
The Big Red generated nine shots on offense, including two on goal. In the opening minutes
Evanthia Spyredes fired a shot that Yale goalkeeper Alyssa Fagal was able to deny, and a few moments later
Shelby Wray lined up a chance that was on target. Spyredes led the team with three shots, while Wray and
Jessica Ritchie had two apiece.
Meghan Kennedy, who started in net for the Big Red, made seven saves.
Late in the first half, Yale's Aerial Chavarin scored the game's lone goal on a header off a corner kick.
The Big Red travels out to Providence, Rhode Island, next weekend to take on Brown at 1 p.m. Sunday.
