Men's Cross Country with Strong Showing at Reif Memorial

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's cross country team hosted the 32nd Annual John Reif Memorial Cross Country invitational Friday afternoon at the Moakley Course. There was no team score for the 5k race, which consisted of 47 runners from four different schools.

Brandon Phillips was the first member of the Big Red to cross the finish line, doing so in 16:20.3 for ninth place overall. Right behind Phillips was Mars Bishop who took 10th with a time of 16:27.2. Freddie Buckholtz finished close behind with a mark of 16:34.6, which was good for 12th.
 
The Big Red had a trio of runners finish 15th through 17th. James Avery completed the course in 16:40.7, while Kevin Van Vorst finished it in 16:45.7. Rounding out the group was Solomon Lawrence who posted a time of 16:48.2.
 
Also competing for the Big Red was Jonathan Plass (20th, 17:03.2), Saano Murembya (21st, 17:05.4) and Shane Goosby (23rd, 17:35.5).
 
The Big Red returns to action next weekend when it participates in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship in Princeton, New Jersey.
