#10 Texas A&M Wins Baseball Series Finale, 8-2

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore Seth Urbon tossed three scoreless innings in relief and the offense scratched out a couple of runs in the ninth inning, but 10th-ranked Texas A&M completed a three-sweep of the baseball team with an 8-2 victory on Saturday at Blue Bell Park.

Senior Dale Wickham was 2-for-3 with one of the Big Red's ninth-inning runs. His one-out single through the right side followed a walk from senior Ryan Krainz, then junior Will Simoneit was hit by a pitch to loads the bases. Senior Kyle Gallagher earned an RBI with a walk, then freshman Jason Apostle's sacrifice fly to center drove in Wickham.

But it was too little, too late against a nationally-ranked Aggies squad that improved to 7-0 on the season. Texas A&M scored twice in the first inning, then once more in the second to take an early lead. All eight of its runs were charged to the starter before Urbon stemmed the tide in his second outing with Cornell (0-3).

Mitchell Kilkenny earned the win for the Aggies with eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings. A&M pitchers held Cornell to just three hits on the day – two from Wickham and a single from Gallagher.

Cornell returns to action next weekend with a three-game series March 2-4 at Duke.
