WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Cornell gymnastics team opened the 2019 campaign with a fourth place effort at George Washington's Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Big Red scored a 190.750 to kick off the season, finishing behind North Carolina (194.175), the host Colonials (193.525) and Ball State (193.200).

Lyanda Dudley's 9.750 on bars tied for third at the meet after missing a majority of 2018 duel to injury. Dudley was also the team's top beam performer on the day, taking 15th with a 9.575. She joined
Claire Haklik (sixth, 9.825 on floor) as the lone top 10 individual finishers on the day for the Big Red. Cornell's top vaulter on the day was Kelsy Kurfurst with a 9.550, good for 12th overall.
The Big Red return to action when it travels to Towson for a quad meet along with North Carolina State and William & Mary on Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
