Beyond The Box Score: Syracuse Game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Here are some notes from Wednesday's 72-53 loss at Syracuse.
 

Individuals 

  • Jimmy Boeheim's 25 points was the second-highest total of his career, and his nine free throws made and 11 attempted were both career highs.
  • Boeheim surpassed 200 career field goals as part of a 7-of-16 day from the field
  • Jordan Jones posted career bests of 15 points and five rebounds off the bench.
  • His 15 points are the most by a Cornell freshman against the Orange since eventual Ivy League Rookie of the Year Adam Gore notched 22 in a 67-62 Syracuse win on No. 9, 2005.
  • Terrance McBride had five assists and zero turnovers, the ninth time a Cornell player had at least five assists without a turnover since Brian Earl took over the program in 2016-17 (McBride's second time).
  • McBride also tied his career best of three offensive rebounds, a total he previously recorded in a win over Johnson & Wales on Jan. 4, 2019.
  • Riley Voss was a team-best +6 in 14 minutes of action.
     

Team 

  • With 11 assists and nine turnovers, Cornell posted its fourth game with a positive assist:turnover ratio.
  • Its nine turnovers was a season low and the fewest in a game since also turning it over nine time against Yale on Feb. 16, 2019.
  • Cornell's 40 field goal attempts is the fewest in any game since shooting 38 times in a 50-47 win over Princeton on Feb. 26, 2010.
  • Its 14 field goals made was its fewest since connecting on 13 against Syracuse on Nov. 10, 2017.
  • Syracuse has now won 40 consecutive games in the series dating back to 1968 and is 26-0 against the Big Red in the Carrier Dome all time.
