ALBANY, N.Y. - After her first full month of ice time, junior goaltender
Lindsay Browning tabbed ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month honors.
On the very first day in November, Browning became the first goalie in program history to open the season with three straight shutouts.
The junior led the team to a 7-1-1 record in November with two shutout wins against Quinnipiac (Nov. 1) and Yale (Nov. 15). Saving 203 shots, Browning had a .958 save percentage in November with a .89 goals against average.
The Penfield, N.Y. native anchored her team in wins against Quinnipiac (1-0, Nov. 1), #6 Princeton (3-1, Nov. 2), St. Lawrence (4-1, Nov. 8), Yale (6-0, Nov. 15), Brown (9-1, Nov. 16), Syracuse (4-1, Nov. 26) and #6 Ohio State (5-1, Nov. 30). The Big Red tied #6 Clarkson (1-1, Nov. 9) and lost to #6 Ohio State (3-1, Nov. 29).
Throughout November, Browning consistently ranked first in the nation in save percentage, shutouts, and goals against average. Originally first in winning percentage, Browning dipped to second after a tie against #6 Clarkson (Nov. 9). She jumped back to first after two wins against Yale and Brown on Nov. 15-16.
This marks the first time since December 2017 that a Cornell player has earned the monthly award.
Kristin O'Neill and
Maddie Mills were named the November Player and Rookie of the Month, respectively. Browning is just the second Cornell goalie to earn the Goaltender of the Month award.
Lauren Slebodnick was named the January and February 2013 Goalie of the Month.
