PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Cornell gymnasts won Ivy Classic titles on three events to lead the Big Red to a second-place finish at the championship meet on Sunday afternoon at The Palestra. Cornell narrowly missed a school record on floor as a team and ended the day with a 193.925, the team's second highest score of the year.
The Big Red posted a 49.100 on floor, just off the 49.125 it reached twice a year ago. Cornell took the top two spots on the podium, with
Claire Haklik taking first (9.900) and
Samantha Henry earning second (9.850).
Izzy Herczeg made it three Cornell gymnasts in the top four with her 9.800.
Christina Luniewicz tied with Yale's Jacey Baldovino on vault with a 9.850 and
Donna Webster tied with Brown's Mei Li Costa with a 9.800 on vault.
Maci Prescott earned a third place effort on vault with a 9.775.
Kaitlin Green ended as the team's top finisher on beam in seventh with a 9.800.
Heading into the final rotation in third place, the Big Red charged past Penn with its huge floor score, but it wasn't enough to catch Yale and its school record total of 195.100.
Cornell will visit Penn State for a quad meet that will also feature Arizona State and Yale on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m.
