Illia Presman and freshman Nicholas Göth Errington got off to strong starts in their respective matches, but the men's squash team ultimately suffered a 9-0 loss to Penn on Friday evening at Kline & Specter Squash Courts.
Cornell (4-10, 1-5 Ivy League), which sits 11th in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings, got its closest match from Göth Errington at No. 6. He won the first game and took nine points in the third and fourth. Freshman Nikhil Arjunan won 11 points in the second game at No. 8, and freshman
Alex Dworetzky was close from start to finish despite losing in three at No. 4.
Second-ranked Penn (12-2, 5-1) then cruised through the odd matches, improving to 42-21 all-time against Cornell.
The Big Red concludes its regular season at noon Sunday with its Senior Day match against Princeton at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca.
