ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 1 Cornell men's lightweight rowing team had an early season statement win over No. 2 Princeton, taking three of four races, to earn the Platt Cup and the Harriott Trophy this morning on the Cayuga Lake Inlet.
The Big Red has now won six of the last eight cups, including four in a row in Ithaca.
The first race of the morning proved to be the only Tiger win of the day, as Princeton's fourth varsity eight crossed the line just under four seconds ahead of the Big Red.
Cornell responded with a solid win in the third varsity eight, and then edged the Tigers in the second varsity eight.
The Big Red wrapped up the day with a big win in the varsity eight, claiming both the Platt Cup and the Harriott Trophy with its efforts.
Cornell remains in Ithaca to host No. 6 Columbia and No. 12 MIT for the Geiger Cup on Saturday, April 20.
