Browning Shines in Tie Against #7 Clarkson

ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior Finley Frechette scored #4 Cornell women's ice hockey's lone goal of the night in a 1-1 tie against #7 Clarkson, Friday night.

Frechette marked the Big Red goal with 7:23 on the first-period clock. In Cornell's defensive zone, senior Jaime Bourbonnais dumped the puck to Frechette just as the defense was changing its lines. Frechette proceeded to take the puck down the ice for a wide-angle shot into the goal.

The second period saw the most scoring opportunities for both the Big Red and the Golden Knights, with 13 shots each, but neither team was able to get the puck passed the respective goalies.

Just over a minute into the third period, Clarkson's Avery Mitchell received a pass from Elizabeth Giguere to slide the puck behind junior goalie Lindsay Browning for the game-tying goal.

Despite the one goal she let in, Browning was all other the crease, working to save each and every one of the Golden Knights' 22 shots. Making some of the best saves of her career, Browning helped the team as the reliant anchor in the net.

The Big Red returns to action tomorrow, Feb.1, to host St. Lawrence for its annual Do It For Daron (DIFD) game. Look for the signature purple heart logo, associated with DIFD, all around the rink at the 3:00 p.m. game.
