Torrid Second-Half Shooting Leads Men's Hoops To Win Over Purchase

ITHACA, N.Y.. -- Trailing at the half against Division III Purchase College and without the services of leading scorer Jimmy Boeheim, Cornell needed a spark. The Big Red's young backcourt provided just that.

The Big Red scored 63 second half points to turn a one-point deficit into a 100-68 win on Tuesday evening, snapping a 10-game skid in its first home game in a month. Cornell hit a blazing 8-of-12 from beyond the arc after halftime, with freshmen Greg Dolan and Jordan Jones and sophomore Dean Noll leading the way.

Noll posted a team-high 21 points and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Dolan added 18 points, four assists and three rebounds. Both scoring totals were career highs. Jones hit four 3-pointers, including three in the decisive second half. Junior Riley Voss, making his first collegiate start, added 12 points, six rebounds and six assists and senior tri-captain Terrance McBride rounded out the five double figure scorers with 12 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. The Big Red handed out 24 assists, the 10th-best single game total in school history and shot 54 percent overall, including 75 percent (21-of-28) after halftime. Josh Warren had eight points, four assists, four rebounds and two blocked shots and Kobe Dickson chipped in six points and five boards. In all, 10 different Big Red players scored and nine assisted on at least one basket.

Jordan Means was credited with 14 points and Elijah Lott and Jorge Perdomo chipped in 10 apiece. Andre Peguero had nine points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and two assists to round out the night for Purchase. The Panthers missed all 10 3-point attempts on the night, but otherwise shot 50 percent in a first half that saw them lead 38-37 entering the locker room.

Cornell shot 75 percent after the break, including hitting 13-of-16 shots inside the arc (81 percent) as the Big Red put up 63 points on the board - just two points off the school record for points in a half. The home team's superior depth was big in the win, as the Big Red reserves outscored the Panthers 50-18.

The Big Red used a 33-6 run in just a little over seven minutes to turn the game into a rout.
