ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior goaltender
Lindsay Browning from the Cornell women's hockey team has been invited to the U.S. Women's National Team Evaluation Camp, it was announced Friday by USA Hockey.
The camp is part of the selection process for the team that will represent the U.S. at the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship in April. Fifty-three players received invitations, with Browning among the six goaltenders scheduled to compete.
Browning is coming off a stellar junior season with the Big Red that led to second-team All-America status and a position among the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award, which is given annually to the best player in women's college hockey. She posted a 28-2-3 record with a 0.91 goals against average while setting single-season program records with a .952 save percentage and 12 shutouts. Subsequently, she was named the Ivy League Player of the Year and ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year.
The evaluation camp – which is closed to the public, fans, scouts and media – is scheduled for Oct. 26-30 in Blaine, Minnesota. Browning is one of two goaltenders slated to compete with Team Red in a three-team round robin of games.
