CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Cornell men's swimming and diving team finished out the final day of the 2020 Ivy League Championships just as strong as it started it, shattering two school records and having a Big Red swimmer earn All-Ivy honors for the third-straight day on Saturday at Harvard's Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, Mass.

As a team, the Big Red finished sixth in the Ivy League with 878.5 points. Harvard was crowned the 2020 Ivy League Champion with 1,439 points, claiming its third conference title in just as many years.

Paige daCosta was once again Cornell's top finisher of the day, earning All-Ivy honors in his third event of the four-day meet. A day after claiming the Big Red's first 100-yard backstroke title in school history, daCosta finished as the runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke with the third-fastest time in the Big Red record books (1:43.55). The time makes the NCAA B Cut and earns daCosta second-team All-Ivy accolades.

James Huang also had a stellar day on Saturday, qualifying for the A Final of the 200-yard butterfly and finishing sixth with a school record-time of 1:45.54. His preliminary time of 1:45.43 was even faster and will stand as the new Big Red school record, surpassing head coach Wes Newman '09's previous mark of 1:45.62 that he set at the 2009 Ivy Championships and that stood for 11 years. Huang's mark made the NCAA B Cut as well.

The second Big Red school record of the day fell in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of daCosta, Jack Mahoney, Trevor Lake, and Dylan Curtis placed fifth in school record pace. Their time of 2:55.89 bested the previous school record of 2:56.43 that was posted by Jack Brenneman, Taylor Adams, Alex Evdokimov, and Lucas Reisch at the 2016 Ivy League Championships.

Brett Hébert made the A Final and qualified for NCAA Zones in his second diving competition of the weekend, finishing sixth in the 3-meter diving with 346.60 points after placing sixth in the 1-meter on Thursday. His point total ranks second all-time in Cornell history.

Ryan Brown won the B Final of the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing ninth overall with the third-fastest time in the Big Red record books (1:57.30). With his time, he was the third swimmer of the day to make the NCAA B Cut in his respective event.
