Quick Start Lifts Men's Hoops Past First-Place Princeton

ITHACA, N.Y. -- With the 1988 and 2010 Ivy League title teams in attendance, the Cornell men's basketball team put forth a championship effort. The Big Red (5-13, 2-3 Ivy) scored the first six points of the night and led wire-to-wire, handing Ivy leader Princeton (9-9, 4-1 Ivy)  its first conference loss with a 73-62 victory over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena.

Junior Jimmy Boeheim scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, senior Josh Warren registered his fourth career double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Terrance McBride was credited with 14 points and five assists, but it was Cornell's defense that smother the Tigers over the first 20 minutes before the offense and free-throw shooting clinched the win. Junior Riley Voss had six points, two rebounds and two steals and Dean Noll scored seven points off the bench. In all, Cornell shot 49 percent from the floor on offense and forced 16 Princeton turnovers with 11 steals on defense.

Jaelin Llewellyn led Princeton with 13 points and five rebounds, while both Richmond Aririguzoh and Ethan Wright scored 10 apiece. The loss snapped the Tigers' six-game win streak and was its first since prior to Christmas (Dec. 19 vs. Hofstra).
