ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior
Josh Warren had a career-high 23 points to lead four double figure scorers, but Penn was able to hold off the Big Red 79-73 in a game that featured 11 ties and 12 lead changes on Sunday.afternoon at Newman Arena. The loss snapped a four-game home win streak for the Big Red (5-14, 2-4 Ivy), while the Quakers (12-7, 4-2) won their fifth straight overall.
Warren hit 7-of-9 shots from the floor, including his first five 3-pointers, and added seven rebounds, two assists and a steal in the loss. That performance came after scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on Saturday afternoon in a win over Princeton.
Warren got plenty of help, with
Terrance McBride scoring 15,
Jimmy Boeheim posting 13 and
Bryan Knapp scoring 12. McBride added five rebounds and four assists as Cornell had 13 assists and just seven turnovers on the offensive end while holding a narrow 32-31 edge on the backboards.
The Quakers got 18 points and five rebounds and both Jordan Dingle and Max Martz scored 17. Senior AJ Brodeur flirted with a triple-double and ended with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists along with two key blocked shots in the final 90 seconds. Penn shot 54 percent from the floor and assisted on 16 of its 30 field goals.

First Half
• Much like on Saturday, Cornell raced out to an early lead, going on an 8-0 run after Penn scored the first basket of the contest.
• Warren drilled 3-pointers on each of the Big Red's first two possessions to set the tone for the Big Red offensively.
• Penn caught up at 10-10 on a trey by Ray Jerome.
• No team led by more than a possession over the next six minutes, trading the lead back and forth, before an 8-0 Penn spurt put the visitors ahead 28-20.
• A Terrance McBride 3-pointer and a Jimmy Boeheim free throw cut Penn's lead to 30-28 with 4:32 left, and after the Quakers extended it back to seven, the junior guard scored the final four to get the home team within three at the break (38-35).
• McBride scored nine in the first half, but Dingle scored 11 in the first 20 minutes as the visitors shot 56 percent overall.
• The teams combined for just eight first half turnovers, including just three by the Big Red.
Second Half
• Cornell opened the second half on a 9-2 run over the first 1:54 to regain the lead with Warren hitting his third 3-pointer of the night on the team's first possession.
• Warren scored seven more in a 74-second span that put the home team up 51-48 with 13:57 remaining.
• Twice the senior scored in the final seven minutes to knot the score, including at 67-67 with 4:26 left.
• Penn scored six consecutive points to go up 73-67 and the Big Red never got within a possession over the final three minutes, though it got within four on three occasions.
• Warren scored 17 of his points in the second half, while Knapp had eight points and three boards.
Next Up
• The Big Red returns to the road starting on Friday, Feb, 14 for a Valentine's Day contest at Ivy preseason favorite Harvard at 7 p.m. at Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge, Mass.
• The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+.
• Cornell leads the all-time series 95-82, including sweeping the series last year against the 2019 Ivy champs.
• Those wins snapped a six-game skid against the Crimson.
• The Big Red holds a narrow 44-43 lead in games played in Cambridge.
