ITHACA, N.Y. - After being drafted to play with the new expansion team, Toronto Six, in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL),
Amy Curlew, a senior from the Cornell women's ice hockey team, has reached an agreement and officially signed with the team.
A 2020 graduate of Cornell, Curlew is coming off a successful career with the Big Red. In 121 collegiate games, the Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador native scored 24 goals with 36 assists, including nine goals and 13 assists in her final year. A big contributor on the Big Red's special teams, Curlew ranked second on the team with four of the 25 power-play goals throughout 2019-20. In a standout senior season, she racked up a plus-30 rating for a career plus-42 rank.
Curlew joins Cornell alum,
Taylor Woods '16, on the expansion team. Fellow ECAC Hockey alumnae, Emma Greco (Quinnipiac '17), Shiann Darkangelo (Quinnipiac '15), Kelly Babstock (Quinnipiac '14), and recent graduate Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout (Quinnipiac '20).
The new NWHL team based in Toronto will be the sixth team in the NWHL, and the first based in Canada. The Toronto Six will be joining the five existing teams - Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, and Minnesota Whitecaps - for the 2020-21 season.
