ITHACA, N.Y. –
Connor Buczek '15, The Richard M. Moran Head Coach of Men's Lacrosse, will welcome the addition of 12 student-athletes to the Big Red roster in advance of the 2021 season. Among the talented incoming class are Under Armour All-Americans, U.S. Lacrosse High School All-Americans, High School National Champions, all-state performers, and others who are poised to make an immediate impact on the Cornell program.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2024 to campus this fall," said Buczek. "They are a decorated group of lacrosse players that have had a ton of success with their respective high school and club programs, so we are excited to officially welcome them into the Big Red family. This group is comprised of competitive, hard-working and selfless young men. They will do a great job of upholding the Cornell Lacrosse tradition, and hopefully will play an instrumental role in lifting Cornell Lacrosse to new heights in the coming years."
The group of newcomers will add depth to the Big Red roster at nearly every position, featuring five midfielders, two defensemen, two attackmen, one long stick midfielder, one face-off specialist, and one goalie. The incoming class hails from five different states and includes four international student-athletes from Canada.
The freshmen will join a Big Red roster that will be hungry to achieve big goals in 2021 after the 2020 campaign was cut far-too short due to COVID-19. Cornell was off to a 5-0 start in 2020 before the season came to a screeching halt, ending the season ranked No. 2 in both the Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Media Poll and USILA Coaches' Poll. This marked the team's highest USILA ranking since 2014.
