CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Cornell men's polo team was dealt its first loss of the 2021-22 season, falling to Virginia, 21-1, in the team's second and final contest of the Virginia Polo Fall Tournament on Friday night in Charlottesville, Va.
With the loss, the team's unbeaten streak to open the season comes to an end, as the Big Red falls to 4-1 on the season. Santiago Valenzuela scored Cornell's lone goal, marking his third of the year.
The Big Red closes out the Virginia Polo Fall Tournament with a 1-1 showing after recording a 7-6 victory over Southern Methodist on Wednesday.
The Cornell men's polo team will return to action next weekend when it squares off against Harvard on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
