Women’s Rowing has Strong Showing at Head of the Fish Regatta

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Eight boats from the Cornell women's rowing program competed at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday with several turning in strong performances. Held on Fish Lake, the Big Red earned four top five finishes, which included a spot atop the podium for the freshman eight boat. All races were 3,200 meters.

In the collegiate 8+, the Cornell A boat took third place with a time of 11:01.42, behind a pair of boats from Syracuse. Cornell's B boat finished in 6th at 11:24.75, just .08 seconds behind the Syracuse boat that took fifth-place. Finishing in 14th, the Cornell C boat was 3.08 seconds away from a top 10 performance with a time of 11:39.58.

Matching the Big Red's second highest finish of the day was the Cornell D boat in the 2V 8+, taking third place with a time of 11:44.90. Cornell E also tallied a top 10 finish, taking ninth with a time of 12:14.96.

Cornell got its top finish of the day in the freshman/novice 8+, brining home a fish head with a first place finish. The freshman boat finished in 11:37.89, a time that would have finished second place in the 2V 8+ and 13th in the varsity 8+.

In the 4+, the Cornell A boat earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 12:45.87 while the B boat took 13th crossing the line in 13:11.77.
