Keller Boothby has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after helping shoot the Big Red to a 2-0 week. It is the second straight week a Big Red newcomer has been honored, with
Nazir Williams capturing the award on Nov. 29.
Boothby averaged 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds while making 10-of-14 3-pooint attempts (71 percent) in a pair of Big Red home wins, helping Cornell start the season 8-1 for the first time since 1967. Boothby was on fire in a 92-77 victory over defending MEAC regular season champion Coppin State, connecting on 7-of-9 shots from beyond the arc - tied for the eighth-most treys in a single game in school history - en route to 21 points. He added six rebounds in 21 minutes. He then posted 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal in just 13 minutes off the bench in a 122-64 victory over Division III Keuka, helping the Big Red set a single-game scoring record. For the season, Boothby ranks in the top five nationally in 3-point percentage (.568). The sophomore ranks second on the team in both scoring (10.0 ppg.) and rebounding (4.8 rpg.) despite playing just 19.2 minutes per game.
Boothby and the Big Red return to action at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 9 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network on ESPN.
