ITACA, N.Y. - FC Tucson of USL League One announced Monday the signing of former Cornell men's soccer goalkeeper, Ryan Shellow. Shellow becomes the second member of the 2019 men's soccer squad to sign with a USL League One club, joining Union Omaha midfielder JP Scearce.

"Everyone involved with the program is thrilled to hear the news of Ryan signing his first professional contract, especially with a great organization like FC Tucson," said Cornell head coach John Smith. "Having not had the opportunity to play out his senior season here this past fall, this news certainly brings him a wonderful silver lining. We all look forward to watching him play this season, and we will be especially tuned in when FC Tucson plays against Union Omaha, and he gets to face his former class mate JP Scearce."

Shellow was a fixture in goal for the Big Red over the course of his four seasons in Ithaca, starting in 45 matches and amassing 4,307 minutes in goal. A major part of Cornell's resurgence as a program, Shellow led the team to an 18-8-1 record in his final two seasons (27 matches started).

The Miami native posted the best season of his career in 2019, earning an 8-3-1 record in goal alongside a goals against average of 1.04 and a .705 save percentage.

"I am happy to start my professional career with FC Tucson," Shellow said. "My goal is to work my hardest to help us win as many games as possible. I'd like to help us be the team with the least goals conceded and do whatever I can to help FC Tucson win the league."

FC Tucson has been a member of USL League One since 2019 after previously playing in the Premier Development League from 2012-2018. In two seasons since turning professional, FC Tucson has earned a 14-17-13 record, finishing sixth in the league in 2020.
