ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In its first return to competition since 2020, the Cornell men's track & field team didn't skip a beat, notching six individual event wins at Roberts Wesleyan's Redhawk Capstone Meet on Friday in Rochester, N.Y.

Sophomore Perry Mackinnon got things started for the Big Red on the track, finishing first in the 1,500-meter and notching a personal-best in the process (3:49.37). Rishabh Prakash placed just behind Mackinnon in second, crossing the finish line in 3:50.41.

Cornell also went 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles, with sophomore Christian Martin (14.55) and freshman Justin Wei (14.63) finishing first and second, respectively. Wei was just one of a number of freshmen that made a significant impact in their collegiate debuts.

Another of those such freshmen was Tomas Kersulis, who swept his events on the track. Kersulis won both the 200-meter (21.46) and 400-meter (48.61) dashes.

In the field, it was a pair of newcomers that stood out in the throwing events. Sophomore Chase Chandler won the javelin in his debut with a throw of 51.44m (168' 9"). Freshman Brad Morell held his own in the discus, finishing as the runner-up with a toss of 46.76m (153' 5").
