ITHACA, N.Y. -- Michael Grady '19 was named to the 2020 Olympic Rowing team on Friday afternoon in an announcement from USRowing. He will head to Tokyo in July as part of the camp-selected men's four and will be among eight athletes making their senior team debuts.
Grady will be joined in the All-Ivy League boat by Clark Dean and Andrew Reed of Harvard and Anders Weiss of Brown. Weiss is making his second Olympic appearance after rowing in the pairs in Rio in 2016. He will be the veteran in a boat with three others making their Olympic debuts, including Grady.
Grady is the third Cornellian to qualify for the 2020 Olympics, joining wrestler
Kyle Dake '13 and triathlete Taylor Knibb '20.
In total, the U.S. will be sending nine boats to the Games. The women's single sculls, women's double sculls, and lightweight women's double sculls were selected through the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Rowing earlier this year. The women's pair will be selected at the third U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which began this morning in West Windsor, N.J. The entire roster, including coaches and staff, will be announced on Tuesday, June 8.
