WORCESTER, Mass. — Princeton claimed the Ten Eyck Trophy for the third consecutive year Sunday at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond, sweeping the top three varsity Grand Finals. Cornell finished 10th in the team standings with 12 points, a four-point improvement over last year's mark of eight.
Cornell's 2V8+ delivered the day's standout performance for the Big Red, winning the Petite Final to finish seventh overall in the event. Cornell advanced out of Heat No. 3 with a third-place finish behind Syracuse and Dartmouth before turning in its best result of the afternoon, winning the Petite Final by nearly two seconds over Penn and Yale.
The Big Red's 1V8+ also reached the Petite Final after finishing fourth in Heat No. 3 behind Dartmouth, Brown, and Syracuse. In the afternoon final, Cornell finished fourth — less than five seconds behind Yale's winning time and just under two seconds behind Syracuse in third.
Cornell finished fourth and sixth in their respective heats in 3V8+ and 4V8+ before finishing fifth in the Petite Finals. The 3V8+ finished ahead of Navy by a fraction of a second and was two-plus seconds behind Yale in the 4V8+.
