ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior Lillian Myers captured her second consecutive Faye Bennett Laser Radial singlehanded championship after crushing the field that included three other Cornellians, two of whom placed in the top five overall.

With her win, Myers clinched a spot at singlehanded nationals, with regatta runner-up Lucija Ruzevic and fifth-place finisher Lauren Ehnot also in the mix for at-large bids. The two-time conference champion finished fifth at nationals in 2019 and was the top freshmen in the final standings. She will aim for the program;s first national title beginning on Nov. 6.

Myers finished with 26 points over 14 races, winning eight of the races in the 12 person field and claiming top three efforts in all but one race. She won five of the first seven races of the weekend and cruised to victory over teammate Ruzevic, who took second with 46 points and a pair of race wins. After taking 10th in the fourth race on Saturday, she went on a stretch of seven consecutive top three finishes to land in second.

Ehnot was consistent throughout, finishing between second and eighth in all 14 races to finish with 63 points, just three spots out of third. Freshmen Julianne Berry-Stoelzle was 12th, though she registered six top 10 efforts in her first conference championship races.

The Big Red took third in the Cayuga Lake Invite, finishing the combined three-division scoring with 353 points. A division and B division both finished second among the six teams in the field. The skippers for the Big Red included Brooke Shachoy, Meredith Moran and Bridget Green, while crewing the entry was Amelia Neumann, Jana Laurendau and Gabbi DelBello.

Running at the same time as the Cayuga Lake Invite was the Big Red Invite. Made up of 18 different entries from six schools, it functioned as an opportunity to get additional racing in for teams. Cornell had squads place seventh, eighth, 14th, 15th and 16th over a total of 14 races.

The Big Red will host the MAISA Top 9 event out of the Merrill Family Sailing Center over two days beginning on Saturday, Sept. 25.
