ITHACA, N.Y. – After a two goal, one assist performance against Marist on Saturday night, senior forward
Emeka Eneli has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week. It's the first player of the week award for Eneli since Oct. 1, 2018, when he shared the honor with Columbia's Danny Laranetto.
Eneli's performance was critical in the Big Red's 5-1 win over Marist, assisting on fifth-year
Tyler Bagley's equalizing goal in the 22nd minute and scoring goals of his own in the 35th and 80th minutes. It was the second brace of Eneli's career, with the first coming against Harvard in a 6-0 win on Oct. 12, 2019.
It's the second player of the week award of the season for a 5-1-1 Cornell men's soccer program that is off to its best start under Head Coach
John Smith. Bagley previously won the Ivy League Player of the Week award for Sept. 14 following a week in which he scored five goals and had two assists.
Cornell gets its Ivy League season started next weekend when it travels to Philadelphia to meet Penn at 5 p.m. Penn is 4-2-1 to start the season and won its last match, 1-0, over Monmouth.
