Nourzad Named Semifinalist For NFF's Campbell Trophy

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad has been named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy it was announced today. The award annually recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. 

An All-Ivy League second team selection in 2019,  Nourzad started all 10 games at right tackle. He anchored an offensive line that allowed one sack or less in five of the team's seven Ivy games and had four games with more than 400 yards of total offense – including two 200-yard rushing games and five with at least 250 passing yards. A preseason All-Ivy League selection, the 6-4, 298-pound lineman is widely considered one of the conference's top NFL prospects. 

Off the field, Nourzad sports a 3.3 grade point average in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and has spent multiple semesters as a member of the Dean's List. He has served as an undergraduate teaching and research assistant in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He has spent summers working for the United Consulting Group LTD and the NAP Tendon Biomechanics Lab.

Nourzad is looking to become the third Cornell finalist all-time, joining former teammate Jelani Taylor '20 who was one of 12 finalists in 2019. Jeff Mathews '14 also was among the top candidates in the country his senior year.
