UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Cornell women's hockey team continued to brandish a rejuvenated attack on Tuesday, scoring five unanswered goals to pull away for a 6-1 victory over Penn State in a non-league game at Pegula Ice Arena. It marked the second straight contest in which the Big Red recorded a season high for a goals in a game.
Lily Delianedis — the reigning ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week after scoring twice against Dartmouth on Saturday — continued her hot hand with her team-leading eighth goals of the season.
Leah MacSween doled out three assists, and

Izzy Daniel staked Cornell (6-7-1) to a one-goal lead after the first period with the team's first shorthanded goal of the season. Penn State (11-8-1) came out the aggressor in the middle frame and capitalized with a goal to tie the game at 1 before the Big Red took control with three goals on the rush.
After Davis' goal on a four-on-two, Yu scored on a similar play in transition capped by a toe drag in the slot, followed by a wired shot over the glove of Penn State goalie Josie Bothun. Delianedis' high flip her own zone in the final minute before the second intermission sent
Gillis Frechette racing toward goal, leading to a pass back across the crease for Delianedis to tap in for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
While the Big Red chased Bothun — the co-national national goaltender of the month in December — after two periods, the offensive surge didn't stop there. After slick stick-handling through defenders on the half wall, Delianedis teed up
Ashley Messier for a blast from the left point that beat Annie Spring to the short side for her second strike of the season. Just 12 seconds later,
Rory Guilday capped the scoring with a shot of her own from distance.
Deanna Fraser earned her first collegiate win in goal for the Big Red, making 25 saves.
Cornell is back in action on Friday, when it takes on Clarkson in an ECAC Hockey contest at Lynah Rink.
