ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's sailing team will split its squad up to compete in two weekend events, including the Women's ACC finals, with the two-day regattas being held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16. The Big Red will also compete at Hobart and William Smith's David Lee Arnoff Trophy.
The Big Red is coming off its first weekend of the racing season without a regatta victory, grabbing seventh at Stu Nelson Women's and 12th at the ACC Open semifinals.
Cornell qualified for the ACC finals two weekends ago by finishing fifth in the semis and will attempt to better its sixth-place finish at the event last fall. It will be the fourth weekend this semester spent racing at Kings Point, including wins at the King Point Women's event to kick off the 2022-23 campaign. The Big Red's best finish at the ACC women's was third in 2016.
The Big Red had four entries in last year's Arnoff Trophy races, finishing fifth, eighth, 11th and 13th among the 17 registered teams. Cornell has finished as high as third in 2014 and again in 2019.
With just three weekends of team racing remaining this fall, Cornell is hoping to build momentum heading into the winter break.
