NEW YORK, N.Y. -- On the strength of four All-East performances, including three finishers in the top six, the Cornell men's cross country team finished second among 31 teams at the prestigious IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. The Big Red had all five scorers place in the top 40 in the 8,000-meter course that will host the Ivy League/Heptagonal Championship and the NCAA Northeast Regionals this fall.
Rhys Hammond was the meet's runner-up, finishing in 24:02.7 to trail only Princeton's Anthony Monte, who crossed nearly 10 seconds prior. The Tigers won the meet with five runners in the top 13, including three of the top four, but Cornell made them work. Senior
Perry Mackinnon was fifth (24:07.2) and
Damian Hackett was sixth (24:08.6), with
Rishabh Prakash rounding out the All-East performers in 11th (24:18.8) in a field of 366 runners.
Sophomore
Derek Amicon (39th, 25:04.8) rounded out the scorers, while
Caleb McCurdy (50th, 25:20.4),
Tyler Canaday (64th, 25:32.6),
Teddy O'Kane (73rd, 25:38.1),
James Glebocki (96th, 25:56.6) and
Andy O'Brien (100th, 25:58.4) all finished in the top 100.
