ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore Lily Delianedis and freshman Grace Dwyer each recorded three-point days for Cornell in the Big Red's 5-2 exhibition win over Concordia at Lynah Rink on Saturday afternoon.

Rory Guilday also had a multi-point day, logging a goal and an assist for Cornell.

"We got off to a slow start today. We need to be better to start the game with some tempo," said Doug Derraugh '91, the Everett Family Head Coach of Women's Ice Hockey. "We played better in the second and third. We did better moving the puck, playing with speed, and did a better job of getting pucks to the net."

Neither team scored in the opening frame, as Cornell outshot Concordia by a 7-5 margin.

Scoring came fast and furious in the second period, as the two teams combined to net five of the game's seven goals in the 20-minute segment.

Concordia opened the scoring on the power play 5:35 into the period. Rosalie Begin-Cyr scored feeds from Zoe Thibault and Emmy Fecteau.

Cornell would net the following four goals, all of which came in the second period. Delianedis scored quickly after Begin-Cyr. Mckenna Van Gelder, Paige Kenyon, and Guilday combined to net the remaining three goals over 2:34.

Arianne Roy cut into the Big Red's lead in the third period, making it a 4-2 contest. Grace Dwyer netted a 175-foot empty-net goal to give Cornell an insurance marker.

"I thought that line [Gillis Frechette-Delianedis-Izzy Daniel] generated a lot of offense today," Derraugh said. "I thought Grace and Rory were strong on the back end."

Looking Ahead

Cornell will open regular-season play against Mercyhurst in a two-game series beginning Friday, Oct. 21 at Lynah Rink. Puck drop for Friday's contest is scheduled for 6 p.m., while Saturday is a 3 p.m. start. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
