ITHACA, N.Y. –
Doug Derraugh '91, The Everett Family of Women's Ice Hockey, has been named an assistant coach for the Canadian National Women's Team for the upcoming 2022-23 season, Hockey Canada announced Wednesday afternoon.
"I am really excited to represent my country once again, and to learn from the coaches and staff, of Hockey Canada," Derraugh said. "I thank Hockey Canada for giving me this opportunity, and I thank Cornell for allowing me to join the coaching staff of Team Canada."
Derraugh joins the coaching staff headed by Troy Ryan, who signed a four-year extension through 2026 on Aug. 25. Kori Cheverie and Concordia's Caroline Ouellette will also serve as assistant coaches alongside Derraugh. Brad Kirkwood will be the goaltending coach to round out Ryan's coaching staff for the upcoming year.
This will be Derraugh's third consecutive year and fifth overall time coaching the Canadian National Team. He has served as an assistant at the World Championships on two occasions and at last year's Olympics. In 2015, Derraugh was the head coach for Team Canada at the World Championships.
Derraugh has won two gold medals (2012 Women's Worlds, 2022 Olympics) and a silver medal (2015 Women's Worlds) while coaching the Canadian National Team.
