ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team will face its stiffest tests of the 2022-23 season when the Big Red heads to Charlottesville, Va. for the Virginia Fall Tournament beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Cornell will play Virginia on opening day at 6 p.m., then faces Southern Methodist on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
The Big Red is off to a 2-0 start under head coach
Anthony Condo Jr. Pablo Herrera leads the team with 10 goals in the Big Red's two wins, with
Benito Jaramillo Samper has six and Taylor Palacio has five in his only appearance this season. The offense is scoring 15.0 goals per contest in triumphs over Gardnertown and Skidmore.
Virginia holds a 27-10 series advantage over Cornell since 2001. The Cavaliers have won five straight, including all three contests last season. Virginia picked up a dominant 21-1 triumph in last season's UVa Fall Tourney. Cornell's last win in the series came in October of 2016 at the fall tourney, a 15-9 Big Red triumph.
Cornell and SMU have split eight previous meetings (4-4), though the Big Red squeaked out a 7-6 triumph last season at the UVa Fall Invite to snap at three-game skid in the series.
