Volleyball Falls to Co-Champion of the Ivy Regular Season, Princeton

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell volleyball team fell to Princeton in straight sets to conclude the 2022 schedule. The Big Red attack was led by senior Joanna Chang, who tallied a team-high nine kills in the contest. With the win, Princeton moves to become co-champions of the Ivy League regular season, sharing the honor with Yale.

The Big Red battled hard in set one. Cornell and Princeton were back-and-forth through 10-10, until the Red secured a 4-1 run that included two kills by sophomore Camryn Carlo to force a Princeton timeout at 14-11. Out of the break, Cornell built its lead further to 18-13, forcing the second Tigers' timeout. Cornell notched two more points out of the timeout, before Princeton closed on an 11-1 run to seal set one 25-21.

Set two saw three Princeton kills to open, but Cornell answered with a 4-0 run to take its first lead of the set. The Tigers and the Big Red were tied at 8-8 and 10-10, but Princeton found a 3-0 run to take a 13-10 lead in the set. The Tigers never gave up their lead, though the Big Red never trailed by more than four. The Big Red forced a late Princeton timeout after closing the gap to two at 22-20, but the Tigers closed out the set, 25-21.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 8-2 run, until senior Emma Worthington tallied a block to earn Cornell's third point of the set. Princeton expanded its lead to 12-3, before the Big Red secured a 7-1 run to bring the set within three. Princeton held strong, going on to win the set 25-21, and the match 3-0.
