#9 Women’s Hockey Remains Unbeaten at Home With 8-1 Rout Over #10 Clarkson

ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 9-ranked Cornell women's hockey team put on a show against the No. 10-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights in a convincing 8-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Lynah Rink, keeping its unbeaten home record alive.

Cornell was looking to bounce back defensively from its 7-6 win on Friday night against St. Lawrence and the Big Red came out blazing with two goals in the first 64 seconds.

The opening goal was scored by Georgia Schiff with assists credited to Mckenna Van Gelder and Kaitlin Jockims. The latter marker was scored by Ashley Messier and was assisted by Izzy Daniel and Gillis Frechette.

Gretchen Branton netted the Golden Knights' lone goal in the first period, intercepting a Big Red pass and notching an impressive unassisted goal to bring Clarkson within one.

Cornell exploded in the second period with five unanswered goals to put the Big Red ahead 7-1 at the end of the period. Van Gelder, Rory Guilday, Alyssa Regalado, Daniel, and Frechette all scored during the run.

Paige Kenyon tacked on the final goal of the contest with seven minutes remaining, giving the Big Red an insurance marker.
