Emily Pape neared double-double territory in her first collegiate outing, notching 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the match up.
The first point of the 2022-23 season came from sophomore forward
Summer Parker-Hall. Parker-Hall was sent to the line just under 45 seconds into the contest. Colgate answered with an 5-0 run to grab the 5-1 lead, but senior guard Mulroy had the answer for the Big Red, being responsible for all four points in the 4-3 Cornell run, which brought up an 8-5 scoreline into the first timeout with 4:49 remaining in the first. Pape notched the next Big Red points, the first of her collegiate career, on a power drive layup with just 2:50 left in the quarter. Colgate shot lights out in the first, shooting 42.9% from behind the arc and 50% from the field, helping the Raiders to lead after one quarter of play, 20-12.
The Big Red got rolling in the second quarter, opening on a 10-6 run to trail by four at 26-22, forcing a Raiders' timeout with 4:52 left in the half. Colgate got the first bucket out of the timeout and built their lead back to nine before closing the half, leading 37-28.
The second half opened on a 6-0 Colgate run before Cornell found the basket. The Big Red got the second half scoring started on a breakaway pass from senior guard
Ania McNicholas to junior
Mia Beam who secured the layup. Another 4-0 Colgate run followed, forcing a Cornell timeout. Out of the stoppage, Cornell found the basket immediately and continued on a 5-2 run to close the third trailing 49-35.
Cornell continued its run tallying the first four points of the fourth quarter, forcing a Colgate timeout. Cornell continued to outscore the Raiders, 5-2, before the Raiders found some momentum on a three pointer and long two with just over three minutes remaining. Cornell called timeout with 3:16 remaining in the contest. Colgate held on through the remainder of the game, closing out the fourth on a 6-2 run to win, 62-48.

The Big Red continue the opening road trip with a Saturday, November 12 game at Fairleigh Dickinson.
