WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Cornell fencing team closed out its fall semester with a perfect 6-0 day on Sunday afternoon at the Brandeis Invitational at the Gosman Center. The Big Red improved to 17-2 on the season with victories over Brandeis (23-4), Wellesley (21-6), Tufts (17-10), Ivy rival Brown (14-13), St. John's (15-12) and MIT (21-6) to extend its win streak to nine matches.
The Big Red had an especially good day with the foil, going 41-13 with the weapon and claiming team victories in all six matches. Asherash Horsley (11-3) and
Madeleine Nishimura (10-3) were two of four fencers with double-digit wins on the day.
Keona Moya was 11-3 with the sabre and
Emma Ni was 10-6 in epee.
After the holiday break, the Big Red will compete at the Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Penn.
