ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore goaltender Ian Shane has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

The honor marks the third consecutive week Cornell has received a weekly award from ECAC Hockey. Sean Donaldson was named Rookie of the Week on Nov. 21 and Dalton Bancroft was tabbed the conference's Forward and Rookie of the Week on Nov. 28.

This past weekend, Shane stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced in the Big Red's split with Ivy League rivals Harvard and Dartmouth.

In the opening game of last weekend's home series, Shane stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced in Cornell's 2-1 overtime loss to Harvard. He followed that up with an 11-save shutout in the Big Red's 1-0 victory over Dartmouth.

The shutout on Saturday was Shane's fifth of his collegiate career and the second of the season. His first came in Cornell's 6-0 victory over UConn on Nov. 26 at Madison Square Garden when Shane made 27 saves, becoming the first Cornell goaltender to have a shutout at the World's Most Famous Arena since Matthew Galajda did so against Boston University on Nov. 30, 2019.

So far on the year, Shane has a 6-4-0 record with a 1.43 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage. His goals-against average paces the nation and is eight points higher than St. Cloud State's Dominic Basse (1.51). Shane's save percentage is third in the nation, trailing Basse (.940) and UMass Lowell's Gustavs Davis Grigals (.939).

Cornell will return to action following its three-week break from competition on Dec. 29-30 when it hosts AIC in a non-conference series at Lynah Rink. Puck drop for both games are slated for 7 p.m. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+ and on WCHU (870 AM, 97.7 FM).
