ITHACA, N.Y. – Fifth-year forward
Emeka Eneli has been named a Second Team All-America selection by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Eneli, who is coming off a season in which he registered 15 points (four goals and seven assists), is the first Cornell player to earn All-America distinctions from the United Soccer Coaches since Daniel Haber was a first team selection in 2012.
The Dublin, Ohio, native is one of three Ivy League players to earn All-America honors this season, joining Penn's Stas Korzeniowski and Leo Burney.
This is the second honor received by Eneli from the United Soccer Coaches in the past week, as he was also named to the All-Northeast Region first team on Tuesday, alongside his teammate, and fellow forward,
Brandon Morales. Senior defender
Connor Drought and freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Friedberg also were named to the region's second team.
Following his time on East Hill, Eneli concludes his career with the Big Red with 60 points (21 goals, 18 assists). His 60 points rank seventh all-time, while his 18 assists were tied with Rob Elliot (1993-96) for the second-most by a Cornell player. Eneli also cracked the top 10 in goals scored at Cornell, matching John Bayne (1984-87) for the 10th-most in a career.
