ITHACA, N.Y. – Thanks to a career day from sophomore Nick Paciorek, the Cornell men's polo team cruised to a 29-11 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, N.Y.

Heading into Saturday's contest, Paciorek had 13 goals for 13 points on the season. He doubled that and more against the Hokies, going off for a game- and career-high 17 points, including one two-point goal. Paciorek's 16 goals and 17 points in a contest are the most among any Big Red player on the roster so far this season.

With Cornell holding just a one-point lead, 9-8, at the half, Paciorek was the difference maker for the Big Red, scoring nine of his 17 points in the third chukker which saw the Big Red outscore the Hokies, 12-0. Virginia Tech couldn't recover from there, and Cornell went on to outscore the Hokies 20-3 in the second half en route to victory.

Patricio Fraga-Errecart scored five goals in the win, all of which came in the fourth chukker to help put the game away even more. Santiago Valenzuela and Pablo Herrera both scored two points, with Herrera's coming on a two-point goal in the third chukker.

With the victory, Cornell improves to 11-2 on the season and has won three-straight contests. The Big Red will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26 when it takes on Kentucky at 7 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
