NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's track and field team finished four at the conclusion of the 2022 Heptagonal Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Armory. The Big Red pocketed 78 points and five Ivy League champion efforts in the two-day meet.
Three individuals claimed Ivy titles on Saturday, and they were joined in the winner's circle on Sunday by
Brooke Overholt in the 400 (54.70) and
Marguerite Lorenzo in the high jump (1.80m, 5-10 3/4) on Sunday.
Overholt won her finals race in the 400 by nearly a half-second with the fourth-best time in school history, with teammate
Kayleigh Furth in sixth to score valuable team points. Overholt also took third in the 60 hurdles with a run of 8.46 as part of a 3-4-5 Big Red finish, with
Beatrice Juskeviciute (8.49) and
Ama Boham (8.54) also finishing with .08 of each other. Overholt was just .01 off the school record. Lorenzo, meanwhile, was .03 meters better than Princeton's Madeleine Wood, with the Big Red's
Catalina Zaloj in sixth with extra team points.
Also scoring in field events on Sunday was
Noelle Elkinton in the shot put (fifth, 13.96m).
Rebecca Hasser's sixth-place finish in the mile came in 4:54.25 and the 4x400 relay featuring Furth,
Delaney Benedict,
Nia Robinson and Overholt was fourth overall in 3:45.28 with Overholt running th final leg in 54.98.
