ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team pulled away in the fourth chukker to claim its fourth consecutive victory, a 20-13 win over visiting Kentucky on Saturday evening at the Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 12-2 on the season with the win.
Tyler Palacios (eight) and Pablo Herrara (six) combined for 14 goals for the Big Red, which broke a 5-5 tie after the first chukker and put the contest away with a 5-0 rush to close out the contest, including three scores by
Patricio Fraga-Errecart.
Cornell held a narrow 8-7 lead at the break and trailed 12-11 in the third before going back out in front with the final four goals of the chukker, for an eventual 9-1 run that put the home team in the driver's seat.
The Big Red's final tuneup before the USPA Northeast Regional will be a matchup with the Denver Polo Club on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
