Big Red Rewind:

•  Gillis Frechette delivered Cornell's first four-point effort of the season, scoring twice in a span of 1:40 during the first period of the Big Red's 4-0 whitewash of St. Lawrence on Tuesday night. She added assists on Kaitlin Jockims' strike to close out the three-goal first period and Izzy Daniel's empty-netter in the third.
•  Lindsay Browning had a relatively quiet night with the Big Red staying out of the penalty box for the final 40 minutes. Browning made 20 saves for her sixth shutout of the season and the 18th of her collegiate career, which brings her into a tie with Lauren Slebodnick '13 for second-most in program history.
•  The victory over the Saints pulled the Big Red up to sixth place in the ECAC Hockey standing. Cornell is now seven points clear of ninth-place Rensselaer for the last playoff berth and seven points behind fourth-place Quinnipiac for the last slot to earn the right to host a quarterfinal series.
•  Cornell is now 5-2-1 since the start of 2022, outscoring opponents by a 24-11 margin.

Tuesday's Highlights vs. St. Lawrence:

By The Numbers:

•  Coming off a monster performance against St. Lawrence, junior Gillis Frechette (#11, 10-17–27, plus-14) continues to lead the team in scoring and is now tied for the goal-scoring lead with sophomore linemate Lily Delianedis (#21, 10-9–19). Delianedis was named early this week the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for January after posting eight points over the Big Red's seven games over the month.
•  Junior Izzy Daniel (#12, 6-18–24, plus-14), the team's leader in assists, typically plays on the other wing of a line with Delianedis and Frechette.
•  With a pair of assists last Friday at Princeton, freshman Rory Guilday (#5, 4-7–11) continues to lead the team's blueliners in scoring. She typically plays alongside sophomore Ashley Messier (#8, 2-7–9, team-high 56 blocked shots), giving the Big Red a defensive pairing that features international experience from both the U.S. and Canada.
•  Graduate student Lindsay Browning (#29, 8-8-2, 1.89, .931, 6 SO) — who, in 2020, became the program's first goaltender to earn All-America honors — is the first goaltender to serve as the team's sole captain. Browning's six shutouts are second nationally to just the seven posted by Northeastern's Aerin Frankel.

Happy To Be Home:

•  The Big Red hasn't allowed any goals in its last four home games, with the last concession coming in the third period of a Nov. 19 game against Quinnipiac. Graduate student Lindsay Browning has tended goal for the entirety of the stretch, carrying a home shutout streak of 250 minutes, 30 seconds coming into the weekend.

Big Red In Beijing:

•  Cornell had a successful beginning the women's hockey tournament at the Olympics early Thursday morning.
•  One of four Cornell women's hockey alumnae competing for Team Canada, Rebecca Johnston '12 had a goal and three assists in the team's 12-1 win over Switzerland. Other Big Red connections with the Canadians are forwards Brianne Jenner '15 and Jillian Saulnier '15, defenseman Micah Zandee-Hart '20, and assistant coach Doug Derraugh '91.
•  Lenka Serdar '19 was also in action with the Czech Republic, help the squad win its first-ever Olympic game with a 3-1 victory over host China.

The 300 Club:

•  Derraugh earned his 304th win Tuesday against St. Lawrence — though he was not on the bench. With Derraugh having departed the Big Red temporarily to coach in the Olympics, Associate Head Coach Edith Racine will continue as Cornell's acting head coach.

About Harvard:

•  The Crimson enters its Friday game at Colgate on a seven-game winning streak, which has the squad sixth in both national polls and first place in both the ECAC Hockey and Ivy League standings. Most recently, Harvard defeated Boston University, 4-1, on Tuesday to advance to the Beanpot Tournament championship game next week.
•  Harvard's three leading scorers typically play on the same line. Right wing Becca Gilmore (#18, 12-16–28) leads in points and left wing Anne Bloomer (#3, 17-7–24) leads in power-play goals (5) and rating (plus-18). They're often centered by Kristin Della Rovere (#11, 9-16–25), who was named the league's player of the week on Monday.

•  Harvard has been blanked in its last two visits to Lynah Rink, both coming during the 2019-20 season. The most recent was a 4-0 decision in the 2020 ECAC Hockey tournament semifinals that featured a 25-save clean sheet from Browning.

About Colgate:

•  The Raiders moved up to seventh and eighth in the national polls this week after a road sweep of Quinnipiac (in overtime) and Princeton, but they lost to Clarkson, 3-1, on Tuesday night. They start this weekend off with a 2 p.m. Friday game against Harvard.
•  Danielle Serdachny (#9, 11-26–37) leads the team in scoring and is tied for the team lead in rating (plus-17) and power-play goals (five players have 3).
•  Serdachny typically centers a line flanked by the next two leading scorers on the team — Kalty Kaltounkova (#98, 16-20–36) and Dara Greig (#77, 16-14–30). Kaltounkova's average of 0.62 goals per game ranks 11th nationally.
