ITHACA, N.Y. – It may have had to wait one week longer than expected, but the Cornell men's polo team is even more prepped to return to action than before, as the Big Red will suit up against Skidmore on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, N.Y.
LAST TIME OUT:
Last Saturday's matchup between Cornell and Texas A&M was canceled due to inclement weather. The Big Red are itching to return to action, as the team has not taken the field since Dec. 4, when they defeated Babson 16-10 at the Oxley Equestrian Center. Multiple Big Red student athletes contributed in that victory, as
Nick Paciorek,
Pablo Herrera,
Santiago Valenzuela, and
Patricio Fraga-Errecart each scored three goals. The victory over Babson pushed Cornell's record to 9-2 on the season and 7-1 at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
Cornell enters Friday's contest with an imposing 9-2 record. The Big Red's only two losses have come at the hands of Virginia, who beat Cornell on Oct. 22 and Nov. 21.
AGAINST SKIDMORE:
Since the 2011-12 season, Cornell is a perfect 28-0 against Skidmore. The two squads last met on Oct. 2 of this season, when the Big Red handled the Thoroughbreds, 20-11, at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING:
Cornell is looking to continue the momentum of its season after a two-month break between semesters. When the Big Red takes the field Friday night, it will have been 69 days since it last played, dating back to its Dec. 4 matchup with Babson.
