ITHACA, N.Y. — Junior forward
Gillis Frechette has been named to the All-ECAC Hockey first team, headlining five members of the Cornell women's hockey team to earn all-league honors.
The Big Red also has graduate student
Lindsay Browning as the lone goaltender on the second team, junior forward
Izzy Daniel on the third team, and sophomore forward
Lily Delianedis and freshman defenseman
Rory Guilday both on the all-rookie team.
Frechette finished the season as ECAC Hockey's leading scorer in league games, scoring 10 goals to go with 26 assists for 36 points in 22 contests. Her plus-25 rating over those games were also best in the league. It was down the stretch of the regular season when the Big Red found its stride, and Frechette was at the helm of that charge with multiple points in seven of the team's last nine games. Frechette has also been named a finalist for the league's Best Forward and Player of the Year.
Browning earned her second career All-ECAC Hockey honor after being named to the first team in 2020. Her 12 victories in ECAC Hockey play this season were tied for the league lead. She will go down as one of the greatest goaltenders in Big Red history, setting new career records in goals against average (1.50) and save percentage (.937). Her 18 shutouts are tied for second-most in program history.
Daniel earns her first All-ECAC Hockey after a season that saw her rank second in team scoring with nine goals and 25 assists. The 34 points doubled her point total from her freshman season in 2019-20, which led to being named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
On the all-rookie team, Guilday logged monster minutes on the blue line. Her 14 points in league games were tied for the most among freshman defensemen. Delianedis averaged a point per game as the center on the team's top line, twice earning ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week honors while grabbing national rookie of the month for January. She is one of three finalists for the league's Rookie of the Year award, which is expected to be announced on Wednesday.
