ITHACA, N.Y. -- Five Cornell equestrian riders qualified for the 2022 IHSA Zone 2 Championships on Sunday afternoon at Oxley Equestrian Center at the regional championships. The Big Red qualified a rider in each division that it competed in. In addition, as the regional's high point champion, the Big Red will compete at the Zone Championship as a team.

With a top two finish needed to reach Zones, Ashley Ardila won Intro riding Winston as the Big Red's blue ribbon competitor on the day. Red ribbons as reserve champion went to Anjali Velu (Open Fences), Sasha Miranda (Limit Fences), Katie Philipp (Limit Flat) and Talia Aley (Novice), allowing each to advance to the Zone Championships on Saturday, April 9 in Canton, N.Y.

Three other competitors placed in the top eight, including two in the Novice category. Cat Thrasher took fifth and Indigo Pavlov finished seventh. Annalise Hines also captured eighth while riding Memphis in the Limit Flat.
